Nov/Dec BozemanLUG Meeting
Nov/Dec BozemanLUG Meeting - Combo meeting for Nov/Dec on the first Thursday of December
David BorehamPresenter: David Boreham from NuevaSync
Topic: Extreme Debugging -- Cautionary tales from a year spent making cloud sync work.
Description: David will talk about the technical challenges encountered providing over-the-air mobile sync service, as the number of users grew from 100 to 100,000 and beyond. The service runs on a cluster of Linux servers, originally located in downtown Livingston but long ago moved to California in pursuit of cheap and reliable Internet connectivity.

Great Presentation
The attendance of this meeting was a little lower than anticipated (6 total). I'm guessing that had something to do with the fact that it was an atypical meeting date and the weather wasn't great either.
I would like to thank David for doing the presentation. I especially appreciated his slide style since it matches my own... white background, black text, not too much text per slide... keeping it simple and viewable. I can't tell you have many presentations (almost all non-LUG related) I've attended where the fanciness of the slides made them hard to read as well as distracting.
David's presentation was very interesting and he was pretty comical with some of the items in the presentation. He had 8 (I think I counted right) cell phones with him and joked that he has as many cell phones as a cocaine dealer. But seriously, about every 30 minutes or so the cell phones would all make noise indicating they had been synced. David says it helps him with monitoring when he is on the road but drives his wife crazy.
If you have a smart cell phone and want to sync your calendar, emails, contacts, and to-do lists, check out his service: NuevaSync
