Video: MiSTer FPGA Atari Jaguar work-in-progress core

On Thursday, July 10th 2025, a new build of the Atari Jaguar WIP core was released by developer GreyRogue.  It is available on the MiSTer FPGA Discord and is pinned in the Atari Jaguar channel.  It is another step in improving JagCD support. CD game loading and start-up speed is greatly improved.  Jeff Minter's Virtual Light Machine (VLM)  functionality is top-notch now although it still uses the load-the-whole-thing-to-RAM method for media files rather than the new stream-on-demand method used for game CDs.  Enjoy my demonstration video!  Big thanks to GreyRogue for all of his fine work.

Here are the settings you need to produce a file that is compatible with the VLM.  Even though they have to have an extension of .raw from Audacity, they should be renamed to .bin.  You can also combine multiple raw/bin files using the cat command.  In theory, one could make a bin/cue based, multi-track structure, but doing so is not for the faint of heart.

Here is a Nextcloud fileshare where I have placed the audio files I've made, the audio.cue.bin file used, as well as the Jaguar CD Users Guide (PDF) and the Jaguar CD BIOS.
