The most recent Linus talk. Enjoy.
I bought a MiSTercade board a while ago. Only problem is that I don't have a JAMMA cabinet to use it with. I have my eye on a Storm from AwesomeArcades based out of Idaho... but I haven't come up with the cash for it yet. That doesn't have a CRD so things like the NES Zapper wouldn't work... but there are some alternative light guns that would work if I wanted that. Anyhoo, here's Retro Ralph's take on the MiSTer. Enjoy!
The price of this board is reported to be $99, and a 128GB RAM module is going to be only $15.
Some time ago, most of the LXD team at Canonical were laid off, and LXD was removed from containers.org. Incus was forked from LXD and, so far as I'm concerned, is the future of containers on Linux. It also manages KVM VMs too. Granted, I'm not much of a fan of application containers. Here's a video announcing the release of Incus 6.0 LTS. Enjoy!
RetroBytes put together quite the complete / lengthy history of X11. I've been using KDE Plasma on Wayland for a while but X11 is going to remain for some time to come. Enjoy!
The YouTube ExplainingComputers guy just came out with a Linux End-User Manifesto. He basically makes an argument for how Linux users can better advocate for wider adoption. Enjoy!
Video Game Esoterica put together a 2023 year in review video. I don't think I would have selected any different than he did. Enjoy!
The Open Source Summit was held this week in Japan. The Linux Foundation has been pretty quick to post the videos on YouTube but currently in very long, everything-that-happened-in-this-room-that-day format. I fished this clip out and converted it to av1/opus in a webm media container. If you can't play that, use something that is compatible with those codecs/container format.

Work on this is moving at breakneck speed. Here's a video showing a recent build but they are coming fast so it'll likely be outdated real soon... but what's there is pretty impressive. Enjoy!
I need to give this one (the work-in-progress Sega Saturn core) a try but so far I haven't. Looks pretty darn good. I'm sure there is still a lot of work left but the progress made thus far looks very promising. I've been subscribed to the developer's patreon (<a href="https://discord.com/channels/647909397477195803/806644464834969640/1047355308210671666">Srg320</a>) for well over a year and I hope he is making a reasonable living from all of the work he has put in. He has made a number of impressive cores for the MiSTer FPGA. Big thanks to Video Game Esoterica putting the video together. He does good work too. Enjoy!
